I'm ready to begin the blogging journey again! ๐ We all have times where life seems busy and our attention is drawn in many different directions, but I wish I would have kept up on my teaching blog. I have photos of projects that were fun and memorable from the past; however, I'm going to start fresh with a new blog design, while sharing with others about the experiences in Room 9.
So, here it goes...I'm fairly new to Instagram, so click on my Instagram link; I would love to follow more inspiring teachers or creative minds. When I saw the #instabunnies from @teachstarter, I knew I had to jump on the bunny bandwagon! ๐ฐ I am thrilled that I did, because they were so easy and turned out adorable. My 2nd grade students loved this project! We began talking about different lines and the patterns we could make using simple line drawings. The possibilities were endless, and each bunny has its' own special uniqueness, just like all of my 2nd graders. We share similarities, but we also have something special that is innately ours. This is how we began our "Hopster Hipster" Bunnies, that was my name for our adorable little Insta Bunnies.
First, I found the site TeachStarter, which is an excellent source for teacher resources by the way, and I downloaded the Insta Bunnies. Then, I printed the black and white outline of the bunny on white card stock. I also had some really pretty, bright colored card stock that I let my students choose for the background. Next, I printed up some of the styles of glasses on the colorful card stock, and cut those out. You could have your students cut them out, but cutting the inside lens out was tricky, even for me. ๐ I have also seen where teachers let their students color in the glasses, but I just loved the bold color of the card stock, and used that instead.
Finally, my students cut around the light grey lines on the bunny face, and they glued them onto the colored background they chose earlier. They left a bit of space, so the bright colorful background would peek through. The last step was to glue on the glasses they chose.

The bunnies were very cute before the glasses, but when you add those funky hipster glasses, they are just too cute for words. I mean, really, who doesn't love a bunny wearing glasses?
